Since its opening in 2012, Gardens by the Bay has been a must visit among locals and tourists alike. As part of Singapore’s City in a Garden vision, Gardens by the Bay was conceptualized to be an iconic green space, akin to New York’s Central Park. Inside the 250 acres’ grounds, there is the Bay South, Bay East and Bay Central Garden which are linked to each other, as well as two cooled conservatories – the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest.
Bay Central Garden has a 3-kilometre (1.9 mi) waterfront promenade that allows for scenic walks stretching from the city centre to the east of Singapore while Bay East Garden has a 2-kilometre (1.2 mi) promenade frontage bordering the Marina Reservoir with large tropical leaf-shaped gardens. Bay South Garden is the largest of the three gardens which showcases tropical horticulture and artistic gardens.
The Flower Dome replicates a mild, dry climate and features plants found in the semi-arid tropical regions and is the world’s largest glass greenhouse (Guinness World Records 2015). The Cloud Forest replicates the cool moist climate of tropical mountain regions and allows visitors to explore the 35-metre tall "Cloud Mountain" which is clad with plants and boasts the world’s tallest indoor waterfall.
The Gardens’ landscape is embellished with the Supertree Grove, a cluster of tree-like structures with heights between 25 metres (82 ft) and 50 metres (160 ft). Every night at 7.45pm and 8.45pm, the Supertrees come alive with a mesmerizing light and music show called the Garden Rhapsody.
